Heart Failure clinical trials at UC Irvine
11 in progress, 5 open to eligible people
- Look at How Ziltivekimab Works Compared to Placebo in People With Heart Failure and Inflammation- open to eligible people ages 18 years and up - This study will be done to see if ziltivekimab can be used to treat people living with heart failure and inflammation. Participants will either get ziltivekimab or placebo. Participants will get study medicine for once-monthly injections either in a pre-filled syringe to inject the study medicine into a skinfold or a pen-injector to inject the study medicine into flat skin. The study is expected to last for up to 4 years. Participants will have up to 20 clinic visits. Participants will have to use a study app on their phone to record and share information about all their injections of study medicine and to fill in questionnaires. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- ALT-FLOW II Trial of the Edwards APTURE Transcatheter Shunt System- open to eligible people ages 18 years and up - This is a prospective, multi-center, randomized, sham-controlled, double-blinded (participant and outcomes assessor) clinical trial. - Irvine 5359777, California 5332921 and other locations
- Fluid Management of Acute Decompensated Heart Failure Subjects Treated With Reprieve System (FASTR-II) (IDE-G210258)- open to eligible people ages 22 years and up - The objective of this study is to prospectively compare decongestive therapy administered by the Reprieve System to Optimal Diuretic Therapy (ODT) in the treatment of patients diagnosed with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The main objective is to determine if the Reprieve System can more efficiently decongest ADHF patients in comparison to Control Therapy. - Irvine 5359777, California 5332921 and other locations
- Maridebart Cafraglutide in Heart Failure With Preserved or Mildly Reduced Ejection Fraction and Obesity- open to eligible people ages 18-99 - This study will examine if maridebart cafraglutide as an adjunct to standard of care will lead to a reduction in heart failure (HF) events such as HF hospitalizations and urgent HF visits, cardiovascular (CV) deaths and improvement in HF symptoms in participants with HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and HF with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF) who are obese. This is a phase 3, global, multicenter, 2-part study with a double-blind period and an open-label extension (OLE). The study is event-driven, and Part 1 will conclude when approximately 850 primary endpoint events have occurred. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- Omecamtiv Mecarbil (CK-1827452) to Treat Chronic Heart Failure With Severely Reduced Ejection Fraction- open to eligible people ages 18-85 - The purpose of this study is to find out if the investigational drug called omecamtiv mecarbil can reduce the risk of the effects of heart failure, like hospitalization, transplantation, or death in patients with heart failure and severely reduced ejection fraction. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- Looking Into How Ziltivekimab Works Compared to Placebo in Participants With Heart Failure and Inflammation- Sorry, not currently recruiting here - The study is being done to see if ziltivekimab can be used to treat participants living with heart failure and inflammation. Participants will either get ziltivekimab (active medicine) or placebo (inactive substance that looks like the study medicine but does not contain any medicine). The treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participant's chance of getting ziltivekimab or placebo is the same. Ziltivekimab is not yet approved in any country or region in the world. It is a new medicine that doctors cannot prescribe. The study is expected to last for up to 1 year and 4 months. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- Sotatercept for the Treatment of Cpc-PH Due to HFpEF (MK-7962-007/A011-16)- Sorry, in progress, not accepting new patients - This is a Phase 2, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sotatercept versus placebo in adults with Cpc-PH due to HFpEF. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of sotatercept versus placebo in adults with Cpc-PH due to HFpEF. Efficacy is measured by change from baseline in pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR, primary endpoint) and 6-minute walk distance (6MWD, key secondary endpoint). - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- Test Whether Vicadrostat in Combination With Empagliflozin Helps People With Heart Failure- Sorry, not currently recruiting here - This study is open to adults aged 18 or above legal age with heart failure. People can join the study if they have heart failure symptoms and a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 40% or more. The purpose of this study is to find out whether vicadrostat (BI 690517) in combination with empagliflozin helps people with heart failure. Participants are put into 2 groups by chance. Every participant has an equal chance of being in each group. The groups are: - Vicadrostat/empagliflozin group: participants take vicadrostat/empagliflozin as tablets once a day. - Placebo/empagliflozin group: participants take placebo/empagliflozin as tablets once a day. Participants can stay in the study as long as they benefit from treatment and can tolerate it. During this time, they visit their doctors regularly. The doctors regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects. The study staff may also contact the participants by phone. Participants also regularly answer questions about their well-being. The study does not have a fixed duration. It continues until there is enough data to see if the treatment is working. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- CLEOPATTRA: A Research Study to Look at the Effects of Treatment With a Medicine Called Coramitug (NNC6019-0001) in People With Heart Failure Due to Transthyretin Amyloid (ATTR) Amyloidosis- Sorry, not currently recruiting here - This study will find out if a new medicine called NNC6019-0001 can help reduce the risk of heart-related death and illness in participants with a condition called transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), which affects the heart. Participants will either receive NNC6019-0001 or a placebo (a treatment with no active medicine), and which one they get is decided by chance. Everyone in the study will continue receiving their usual heart treatments as recommended by their doctor. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- LUX-Dx TRENDS Evaluates Diagnostics Sensors in Heart Failure Patients Receiving Boston Scientific's Investigational ICM System.- Sorry, in progress, not accepting new patients - The primary objective of this study is to collect sensor data from insertable cardiac monitor systems. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
- AT-001 in Patients With Diabetic Cardiomyopathy- Sorry, in progress, not accepting new patients - This is a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, 2-part study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AT-001 in adult patients (N=675) with Diabetic Cardiomyopathy at high risk of progression to overt heart failure. - Orange 5379513, California 5332921 and other locations
